Practice Update: Oncology and Urology in East Bay MergeThe Diablo Valley Oncology / Hematology Medical Group would like to thank you for your confidence and trust and also to share the news that we have joined practices with Pacific Urology, effective January 1, 2012. This new partnership forms Contra Costa County’s first privately owned oncology and urology medical practice. Several updates of possible interest to you as a patient:
- The good news is there will be no change to our day-to-day oncology services, locations and physicians.
- The better news is that, because urology and oncology are complementary specialties, we will be able to deliver an unprecedented level of continuity of care to patients requiring both specialty services. The new business structure allows our doctors and nurses to work unusually closely on these cases.
- The merger will increase efficiency and productivity through shared resources, infrastructure and locations. The result is that we are able to maintain the quality of our health care despite increasing economic pressures on doctors in private practice in the United States.
- You may see Pacific Urology’s name on some correspondence, based on how some insurance companies format their Explanation of Benefits (EOB’s) statements. However, the information on the EOB should accurately reflect the services you received from Diablo Valley Oncology / Hematology Medical Group.
