About The Position

We're hiring in our Radiation Oncology division of our multi-specialty practice for a Medical Assistant to work in Pleasant Hill, CA. If you have 1-2 years experience as a Medical Assistant (Front and Back Office) with a warm friendly personality and enjoying working in a fast paced busy office than this is the right position for you. The MA provides regular communication with patients, providers, radiation therapists, referring physician offices and other members of the radiation oncology staff. Also, assist the Physicians, Nurse Practitioner, and Radiation Therapists with patient handling and other duties to provide the highest quality of patient care. You will also provide coverage as back up in the Imagining Division. The position reports to the Director of Radiation and Imaging Departments.

  • Greets patients and displays a positive customer service attitude
  • Answers phones, screens and routes calls appropriately and obtains detailed messages
  • Schedules consults, simulations, and follow-up appointments following Front Office Scheduling Procedures
  • Checks patients in, generates encounter forms, direct patients appropriately
  • Collects patient co-payments, records, and provide receipts and reconciles daily
  • Checks patients out, verifies physician orders for labs, scans, and follow-up appointments
  • Responds to QCL’s and e-mails consistently in a timely manner
  • Assist clinical staff with examination procedures and perform physical examination as needed
  • Update patient chart in regards to allergies, medications etc with each visit.
  • Communicates regularly with radiation therapists regarding patient schedule, status, progress, side effect profile and management.
  • Maintains patient data spreadsheets in coordination with radiation therapist

Requirements

  • Completion of Medical Assistant program
  • 1-2 years of related work experience as an MA
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Computer proficient: must be able to work with multiple programs, software, and websites simultaneously
  • Ability to multitask
  • Must be Patient service oriented
  • Must have warm, friendly personality
