Surgery Scheduler

About The Position

We're hiring in our General Surgery division of our multi-specialty practice for a Surgery Scheduler to work from our office in Walnut Creek, CA. If you have one year experience in surgery scheduling and enjoy working in a fast paced environment this position may be the right fit for you. You would be responsible for the efficient scheduling of the patient and the physician; including, ensuring that all demographic information is entered correctly at the time of the surgery. These services include surgery scheduling at various hospitals and surgery centers. The positions serves as a liaison between hospitals, surgery centers and our practice.  

  • Schedule patients accurately and efficiently for any and all surgical procedures requested by physicians
  • Responsible for providing patients with all necessary information in regards to their procedure including, but not limited to special diet, prep instructions, general insurance information, arrival times, dates, locations, post-operation instructions, post insurance and post appointment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and in a friendly manner with patients, other staff and physicians as well as outside sources
  • Ability to organize work for efficiency and problem solving as related to surgery scheduling and its impact on physicians and clinic
  • Serve as a contact person for hospitals, surgery centers and physicians in regards to schedules, procedures, or concerns while sharing information and working with manager, supervisor, co-schedulers and physicians
  • Responsible for being up-to-date on all insurance requirements and following all guidelines requested
  • Responsible for entering all demographic information including insurance and checking patients insurance for pre-certifications, prior authorization and referrals for all surgery and imaging

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year surgery scheduling experience required
  • Medical terminology required with some background working with health insurances
  • Knowledge of EPIC System preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel) preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to be assertive
  • Represents the Practice in a professional manner related to appearance, communication and patient confidentiality
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including but not limited to: telephones, computer, copy machine, fax machine, scanner, etc.
