About The Position

We're hiring for a Medical Assistant in our Urology division of our multi-specialty practice to work primarily from our office in Walnut Creek, CA. If you have a minimum of 1 year experience as a clinical/back office Medical Assistant with a warm friendly personality and enjoying working in a fast paced busy office than this is the right position for you. You will assist our Physician in order to provide the highest quality of care to the patients. The Medical Assistant is responsible for performing a combination of administrative and clinical tasks in the medical office to ensure efficient operation of the department. The target is to complete all activities accurately with high quality and in a timely manner. Administrative responsibilities include chart prep, call backs to patients, and managing the queue. Clinical responsibilities include vitals, injections, medication lists, room set up and stocking. The position reports to the Clinical Operations Specialist. Travel is required to our off-site locations on a weekly basis to Concord and San Ramon.

  • Greets patients and displays a positive customer service attitude
  • Places patients in exam rooms
  • Takes patient's vital signs and weight
  • Confirms and enters all current medication lists, and allergies
  • Sets up and assists with medical procedures
  • Delivers messages and lab results to physicians, distributes physician paperwork to other departments as needed
  • Maintains and restocks supplies in exam rooms, keeps exam rooms clean and orderly
  • Answers phone calls from patients regarding medical concerns, takes messages, send EPIC messages to appropriate provider
  • Calls back patients with results/instructions as directed by physicians; send EPIC prescription requests to pharmacies as needed; documents patient charts
  • Faxes standing orders to labs
  • Charts prep; obtains lab results, records, and imaging results 

Requirements

  • Completion of Medical Assistant program
  • 1 year of related work experience as a clinical/back office MA
  • Previous EMR experience in EPIC, preferred
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Ability to type 40 WPM
  • Must have warm, friendly personality
  • Computer proficient: must be able to work with multiple programs, software, and websites simultaneously
  • Ability to build rapport with patients to deliver exceptional direct patient care
  • Must have reliable automobile transportation and maintain a valid California Driver's License and insurance
