Medical Lab Technician

Pleasant Hill, CA · Full-time · Associate

About The Position

Our Oncology/Hematology Medical division is hiring for a full-time Medical Lab Technician to work from our Pleasant Hill, CA office. If you have 1-2 years of experience as an Medical Lab Technician (MLT) in a satellite lab, a California State MLT license and possess a positive attitude then please read further. We are looking for someone who is flexible and a great team player as you will work under the general direction of the Clinical Lab Scientist to receive and process specimens, perform clerical tasks and phlebotomy. The MLT operates automated or semi-automated test equipment under the direct supervision of licensed personnel. You will also enhance the quality of patient care and services through interdepartmental cooperation and quality assurance protocols.

  • MLT assists the Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) with maintaining laboratory procedures, equipment and processes to aide diagnosis and treat diseases
  • Performs general laboratory testing, clinical analysis, and reports results accurately using the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulations
  • Correctly collects and verifies that the proper specimen is suitable and is being analyzed for the correct patients and that the correct test is being performed
  • MLT provides leadership and mentoring to laboratory staff in the absence of Laboratory Manager
  • Assists CLS with ensuring lab charges are appropriately coded and paid
  • Records test information according to the laboratory’s standard operating procedures

Requirements

  • Associates degree, preferred
  • 1-2 years experience as a Medical Lab Technician (MLT)
  • Experience in an Oncology/Hematology Lab or Satellite Lab desired
  • Current California State Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) License
  • Proficient in veni-puncture and finger sticks
  • Computer proficient: must be able to work with multiple programs, software, and websites simultaneously
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under strict deadlines and have excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write moderately complex correspondence
  • Ability to build rapport with patients to deliver exceptional direct patient care
